At the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, Lars gained his first experiences conducting choir and orchestra. Taught by Luc Anthonis and Michiel Delanghe, Lars developped his own style of working with various vocal and instrumental ensembles. His vocal studies have been a great value in teaching and coaching choirs, therefore he's frequently asked as a guest-conductor for various amateur and professional ensembles.

Since 2018 Lars is studying in the conducting studio of Steven Verhaert and Jan Van der Roost, working on the symphonic band repertoire. Lars is chief-conductor of the Antwerpse Studentenharmonie, a symphonic wind orchestra with musicians from the universities of Antwerp. From season 2022/2023 on, Lars will work as an assistant-conductor at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. In march 2023, Lars will make his debut with the new Mahler Student Festival Orchestra on Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony: "Resurrection".

Lars participated in several international conductor's competitions and was time and time again rewarded for his musicality and interesting musical approach to the symphonic repertoire.​ At the International Conductors Contest at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Lars got the silver baton after working with the Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine (NL), the Royal Band of the Belgian Airforce and Helicon Wind Ensemble.
